Chairman’s Reserve Limited Edition 1931 is a tribute to the rum philosophy and craft established by our founder, Denis Barnard, when he established his distillery in 1931, which has become today one of Saint Lucia’s most cherished treasures, St. Lucia Distillers.

Blend and Maturation: A seamless blend of Coffey and pot still rums aged from 6 to 11 years in Bourbon and Port casks. The majority of the 1931 blend comes from traditional molasses rum, while the hidden spunk of the spirit is influenced by the inclusion of Lucian agricultural rum produced from fresh sugarcane growing in the fields adjacent to the distillery.

Tasting Notes: Vibrant medium gold in colour with a subtle bronze hue, the character of the rum is highlighted by the expressive aromas of honied raisins and vibrant toasty oak notes followed by hints of leather, spice and tobacco. A well-balanced mid-palate provides structure around flavours of rich sultana fruit with hints of crème caramel and buttery oak. At first, a sweet raisin fruit, trailed by dry and tannic flavours from the oak barrels. A hint of grassy aromatic sweetness from the sugarcane distillate gives a unique, hedonistic but balanced element to the finish of the rum.

Chairman’s Legacy is a tribute to Laurie Barnard, the “Chairman” of St. Lucia Distillers who inspired and created the iconic brand Chairman’s Reserve. His vision to define and reinvent the Saint Lucian rum category was unlike anything the rum category had seen before or has seen since. While other distilleries were purchasing column stills to increase production, Laurie was investing in eclectic barrel types, small pot stills, a proprietary yeast strain, and sugarcane. He believed that the best rum was not achieved from one barrel, but by blending different components together of different ages, finishes, styles, and base materials.

Rum Blend: Chairman's Legacy showcases the art of blending pot and column still rums. In addition to traditional molasses-based rums, “Legacy” features the addition of sugarcane juice distillate, a trademark of Laurie since the day he grew sugarcane around the distillery to isolate the signature proprietary yeast Chairman's Reserve is so famous for.

Maturation: Five and six-year-old rum is tropically aged separately by batch and still type in ex-bourbon barrels before being expertly blended.

Tasting Notes: Mahogany hue in the glass. Pineapple, banana, and vanilla on the nose. Intense grilled tropical fruit and spice on the palate persist throughout a long wonderful finish.

Its clean, crisp, mouthfeel and creamy citrus notes make it ideal for mixing, and a favourite amongst bartenders around the world.

Rum Blend: Blend of pot and column still rums.

Maturation: 2-3 years aged in ex-Bourbon barrels then charcoal filtered to remove colour

Tasting Notes: Clear and white in clarity and colour. Toasted marshmallow, banana bread, and confectioners sugar on the nose. Dry on the palate with notes of lime, coconut, and grilled pineapple which conclude in a lingering finish as is to be expected with such a quality spirit.
